For freshman Yusseli, it’s not always easy being in the top percentile of her AP classes, or a member of the Gifted and Talented Program at a local magnet school. Yusseli, however, manages to juggle all her tasks and make everything look like a piece of cake, which should prove to be of great benefit, as her heart is set on going to college and applying for medical school.
Her decision to become a doctor was easy. Learning about the different organs and the way the body functions have always interested her. The different elements and chemical compounds from the earth also fascinate her. Being a physician, she says, will allow her to learn more about the body and help patients in need of treatment.
Not straying from her path is important in order to accomplish her goals, which is why Yusseli keeps a clear head on her shoulders and a commitment to her studies. SA Youth provides a safe haven with adult supervision, where Yusseli can study, or do her homework on a computer. There are also plenty of opportunities to play sports and stay healthy – which is especially important for doctors.
