Encouraging and teaching youth the value of a healthy lifestyle is one of SA Youth’s three primary goals.
Daily, youth engage in at least 60 minutes of structured physical activities at our out-of-school time centers through our SA Fit! Program.
SA Fit! uses the SPARK (Sports, Play & Active Recreation for Kids) physical fitness curriculum at all 12 locations.
SA Fit! designs hands-on, creative and fun activities that are vigorous. SA Youth also offers specialized physical fitness programs such as dance, swimming, cheerleading/tumbling and rock-climbing. The curriculum gives youth between the ages of 5 and 18 years, the tools they need to be aware and knowledgeable about health and nutrition in order to make healthy lifestyle choices.
We also educate youth about the dangers of smoking, alcohol, drug use and the importance of abstaining from their use.
The promotion of healthy lifestyle choices extends beyond the youth and to their families. SA Youth provides a full gymnasium at our Poplar location where the equipment is open to the families of SA Youth participants. This program is one of many ways parents can learn more about creating healthy habits within their family.
